Amine Asselman (b. 1989, Tetouan, Morocco) is an artist and holds a PhD in Contemporary Art. From a young age, he was drawn to physics and mathematics, which led him to enrol at the Rabat School of Architecture in 2007. After two years of study, he discovered that his true passion lay in art and design, prompting him to leave the academy and move to Tetouan to study Design at the National Institute of Fine Arts. Following his graduation in 2013, Asselman pursued a Master’s degree in Contemporary Art at the Faculty of Fine Arts of Pontevedra, University of Vigo. There, he encountered the work of artists and thinkers such as M.C. Escher, Antoni Gaudí, and Sol LeWitt, whose influence helped shape his artistic vision and deepen his exploration of the relationship between science and art. Geometry, a discipline deeply rooted in his native culture, became central to his practice and research. From 2015 to 2019, he continued his studies at the University of Vigo, developing research on Zellige and contemporary creation between Spain and Morocco. Alongside his academic work, he built an active artistic career through participation in national and international exhibitions, receiving numerous awards and grants.
