Introduced during the initial economic boom after the discovery of oil in commercial quantities, these materials catapulted the construction industry and became symbols of progress, standardization, and mass production. Post-Oil is part of a broader inquiry on the history of modernization in the wider region, investigating the development of an emerging material economy that has overturned traditional urban forms and reshaped the construction industry and the built environment during the 20th century.
