This workshop offers participants an opportunity to explore the patterns, motifs and meanings of traditional Palestinian embroidery (Tatreez) through hands-on making. Led by embroiderers based in Doha who contributed to the Design Doha – Aslan's Love Story exhibition, the workshop introduces participants to the cultural and personal stories carried through Palestinian embroidery, before inviting them to learn and stitch selected traditional motifs themselves. Hazati is a community of Gazan women and men who, amidst the circumstances of war, found connection and solidarity through the collective practice of Tatreez at Design Doha. Brought together by Hazati, these embroiderers have contributed to the production of exhibition pieces as well as the wider public programming in Doha.
